Social media is such a widely used promotional tool these days that even the Kardashian sisters are contractually obligated to make a certain amount of tweets. It’s likely that social media-using business leaders far outnumber celebrities – mostly because there are more of them. Who, then, is the most influential CEO using Twitter or Facebook? If you guessed Mark Zuckerberg, prepare to be disappointed. The famous Facebook founder didn’t even make the Reuters & Klout list of the 50 most influential CEOs using social media.
If Oprah Winfrey is your next guess, that’s more like it. The former talk show icon and current boss of Harpo Productions is the world’s most influential CEO on social media, with 15 million followers on Twitter and a Klout score of 92.
Rupert Murdoch, News Corporation’s much-maligned CEO, isn’t far behind the talk show queen with a Klout rating of 91. The fact that Murdoch found himself in the center of a phone hacking scandal a few years back didn’t do much to damper his hold on the world; this CEO has 371,000 Twitter followers.
