The Samsung Galaxy’s Evolution

Samsung GalaxyThe SmartPhone was probably not the invention of Apple, since numerous phones and handheld devices had done a lot of the things the iPhone does in the past. But, Apple were the ones that got it right. The build, the technology and the usability were all fantastic, and the age of the SmartPhone was born. No other company came close to competing with the iPhone for a long time, because the iPhone was literally years ahead of the competition in build quality, functionality and usability. In recent years, the only competitor worth shouting about is the Samsung Galaxy, which was first launched in 2010. However, as you will soon find out, the Samsung has spent the last three years evolving. Its fan base and sales figures have also grown over the last three years. This evolution of the Samsung Galaxy has placed Samsung in a position to compete with the iPhone, and is currently the first major threat to the iPhone that has ever existed.

The Samsung Galaxy S

Over twenty million of this SmartPhone have been sold since its launch in 2010. It quickly became the biggest competitor to the Apple iPhone. Do not forget that Apple were the ones who made the first true SmartPhone, and have had a monopoly on the industry ever since. Many other Smartphones were launched after the iPhone made its appearance, but very few had any sort of impact on the general public until the Samsung Galaxy S was created.

The Samsung Galaxy S was full of features, had a very good build, and yet was only half the price of an iPhone. It quickly became the popular alternative to the iPhone. Usually, a lower price means that the functions and features of a SmartPhone are weak (at least in comparison to an iPhone), and yet such a flaw was barely noticeable with the Samsung Galaxy S.

It has a Cortex A8 chip that runs at 1GHz; it has a four-inch super AMOLED screen and a 5-mega pixel camera. It also runs on the Android OS, using the éclair version 2.1.

The Samsung Galaxy S was aimed at a broader market

The iPhone is very good for people who are looking for a quality SmartPhone, but Apple has always maintained that their devices are also ideal for business use. This has always meant that iPad and iPhones have had a certain professional look and feel to them. The Samsung however, classified its target audience as the general public, which meant that it was suitable for younger people as well as older people. They still advertise that their phones have business uses, but business use has never been one of its primary targets. This means that a wider variety of people felt more confident in buying a Samsung Galaxy S.

The Samsung Galaxy SII

On the back of the success of the Samsung Galaxy S, they created the Samsung Galaxy SII. It still had the benefits that came with the Samsung S (cheaper then iPhones, etc), but was new and improved. It was launched in 2011 and had the newer Android gingerbread version 2.3 operating system. It had a 4.3-inch AMOLED screen and an 8-mega pixel camera with a back-illuminator sensor.

The device had a duel-core ARM Cortex A9 processor that ran at 1.2GHz. In less than a year, Samsung sold twenty eight million of their Smartphones

The Samsung Galaxy SIII

On the back of the tremendous SII success, the Samsung company built the SIII. Again, it had all the benefits of the first device, and just like the Samsung Galaxy SII, they increased the technology behind the device. During the first month of its launch, the Samsung Galaxy SIII sold ten million units. In less than a year, it has already sold fifty million units.

This phone runs on the Android Ice Cream Sandwich Version 4.0 operating system. This device has a 4.8-inch super AMOLED screen. It has an 8-mega pixel camera just like the SII. Even though the camera stayed the same, the processor power was really ramped up. It went from a duel core processor to a quad core processor, and the speed was increased even further. The Samsung Galaxy SIII has a 1.4GHz processor.

The Samsung Galaxy SIV

It is better known as the Samsung S4, because the marketing team is aware that not everybody studied roman numerals at school. This was launched in 2013 and has yet again built upon the features of the earlier devices. The continuing threat to Apple has now become even more serious, as few people can deny that the build of the Samsung Galaxy 4 is spectacular.

The screen size was increased again, from 4.8 inches to 4.99 inches. The display itself has a 441PPI screen that supports full HD. Again, it has a super AMOLED screen. The device runs on the Android Jelly Bean version 4.2.2 operating system. It has again increased its technical sophistication, by going from a quad core processor to an octo-core processor called the Exynos 5 octa. The camera has been improved this time, going from an 8-mega pixel camera to a 13-mega pixel camera. It has eye-tracking software, uses 4G LTE and has 2GB of RAM. As of this moment, the Samsung Galaxy SIV is available in one hundred and fifty five countries.

The Samsung company is based in South Korea and is one of its strongest single economic motivators in the private sector. Samsung is responsible for 17% of Koreas GDP. The marketing gurus predict that this percentage is going to rise sharply, as the Samsung Galaxy S4 is predicted to sell over one hundred million units, over twice the amount that the S3 sold.
